Synopsis: An anthology composed of verses by various poets,and advice and observation on flower arranging extracted from the publications of Constance Spry, interspersed with photographic illustration of her craft. The extracts taken from publications entitled "Flowers in House and Garden", "Garden Notebook", "Summer and Autumn Flowers", "Winter and Spring Flowers", "Flower Decoration", "Come into the Garden, Cook", and articles published in Country Fair, Harper's Bazaar, and prevoiusly unpublished are presented in chapters entitled : -- The Garden Ravished. Roses. I Remember the Past with Delight. Lovely gardens. I like work, it fascinates me. Feast days. A Man of Vision: the Late Norman Wilkinson of Strawberry House. Now to the banquet. The illustrations feature arrangements of roses, Shirley poppies, lupins, green plants and flowers, Lilium Pyrenaicum, the Angels' tears daffodil, hyacinths, anemones, pelargoniums, fuchsias,enkianthus, euphorbia, wild Italian arrum, rhododendron, honeysuckle, lady's lockett, tulips, myrtle,drimys, chrysanthemums, larch and oak , ferns, grasses, contrasting foliage,godetia, snow berries, tradescantia, cannas, eucalyptus, magnolia, Christmas and Lenten hellebores, waterlilies,brugmansia, wild parsnip, artichoke, frosted ivy, alder, iris, holly, Christmas roses, wild strawberries, daisies, cabbage flowers, trees peonies, foxgloves, etc. Condition: no dust jacket: corners and spine ends bumped: endpapers foxed: overall clean and good.
