Synopsis: A pamphlet describing the means of getting infantry and their immediate supporting weapons across a  water obstacle in an assault, with introduction outlining the object of the pamphlet and the responsibilities of those involved; a chapter on watermanship including boat drill and orders, ferrying , and hints to commanders; a chapter on service equipment including assault boats, kapok equipment, anti-tank gun raft Mk II, FBE raft, class 5  MkIII,  carrier flotation, the reconnaissance boat , the storm boat, miscellaneous equipment; and a chapter on improvised methods including, fords, groundsheet floats, rafts made from canvas and tarpaulin sheets, petrol tin rafts, improvised rafts for 15 hundredweight trucks, improvised boat from three ton GS lorry superstructure, flotation of 6 pr anti-tank gun with kapok floats, carriage of artillery parts in boats. Appendices include instruction on assault platoons, lorry units, waterproofing, buoyancy, knots and lashings, deck spaces,and examples of the use of equipment .
