In 1915 The London County Council agreed to place its resources at the disposal of the Ministry of munitions to manufacture munitions and train workers for munition factories; this volume is a detailed report of what went on and how useful this action was. Photographs of some of the machines used are included with the detailed reports and conclusions from the various institutes taking part in the effort which was estimated at £ 300,00 in 1921. The lines of training developed included- general machine-shop practice, turning, milling, grinding, screw gauge lapping and measuring, fitting, assembling, gauge making, instrument making, lead burning, copper-smiths' work, woodwork machining, woodwork assembling for aeroplanes, propeller-shaping,compass painting, and tracing for drawing offices.
