Published posthumously, this is an expanded version of 'On River Angling for Salmon and Trout', first published in 1840. The author, a shoemaker of Kelso, enjoyed a great local reputation as an angler and fly-dresser, and as a man of original ideas and marked ability. This edition contains "a memoir of the author together with a treatise on the salmon and a list of the Tweed salmon casts" also 2 chapters on the creeper and stone fly by the editor. Condition: spine edges frayed and 2" slit to lower left spine. binding loose ; ownership inscriptions to end papers and title page. overall clean and collectable
