Part One of the book describes the structure of S O E, its functions, and what it was ; the recruiting and training methods; and method of communications by sea, air, land, signal and in the field. Details are given of the problems of security in France. Part Two is a narrative of events and attainments, with details of the political situation , the opening gambit 1940 to 1941, the development of work during 1942, the unfortunate errors of 1943 -4, the mounting pressure on of 1944 leading to the run of successes . It then surveys the strategic values of the operations. The appendices to the book cover the sources of the work; the women agents; the supply lines; the air landing notes; the report of Jean Moulin in October, 1941; Typical F. section operational orders; industrial sabotage ; a time chart of F section circuit deployment : and a table of dates. Condition: Used, with some wear to front and back hinges: ownership inscription ( believed to be that of a member of the S. O. E.) Overall clean, and collectable with accompanying ephemera of historical interest.
