The resulting historic description of what he encountered includes life in London , East Anglia, The West Country, The North, The Midlands, Wales and Scotland ; with descriptions of social life, numerous habitations, an Iron-works, a Coal Mine, a Quaker Lunatic Asylum, a prison in Chester, and a London Hospital . His account was first published in London in 1815, and is an evocative picture of Britain and the British, drawn by a foreigner during the years of the Napoleonic Wars.
