Contents: Geoffrey Herklots ( formerly Reader in Biology at the University of Hong Kong )published a combination of flora, natural history book, and guide to the territory in 1951, modestly defining his work as "a miscellaneous collection of notes, the outcome of twenty happy years in the colony". The volume is divided into two parts, "Nature through the year" followed by detailed descriptions of mammals, reptiles, aquatic life, creepy crawlies, plant life, plants and botanists of Hong Kong. Scholarly detailed description including Latin nomenclature, mingles with local information, cheerful anecdote and precise, high quality illustration. Condition: ownership inscription: small brown marks to end papers caused by adhesive to plastic covering: very clean , firm and collectable overall.
