Eventually known by everybody as The Squire, Maud Hemming was an accomplished and outstanding horsewoman by the age of 12  .  After marrying Colonel Cheape , Master of the Western portion of  Fife, and subsequently  Master of the  Linlithgow and Stirlingshire hounds, Mrs Cheape  bred Highland ponies, polo ponies,  Highland cattle and long - horned cattle on at  Tiroran and Carsaig  on the Isle of Mull, and  at Bentley  in Worcestershire.  The biography contains chapters by J Fairfax - Blakeborough, and A S  Barrow: the text is supported by black and white illustrations of  country  life in the late 1800's.  Condition : spine ends and edges of cover rubbed : corners bumped: back cover discoloured: ownership inscription of Peter Farrelly, of the Quorn Hunt.  Separation between front free end paper and following page: binding slightly loose: sporadic foxing through out: overall acceptable and collectable                                    used books
