The sections include a prologue entitled Leaving Wyoming, a journey with point of departure Washington D C and destination The Smoke Hole, a journey with point of departure New York City and destination Barre Vermont, a journey with point of departure New Orleans and destination Plaquemines Delta, a journey with point of departure Kansas City and destination Smith Centerr, a journey with point of departure Knot'ts Berry Farm and destination  Los Angeles, a journey with point of departure  Glendale and destination Monterey, and an epilogue entitled Return to Wyoming.
