Synopsis: A catalogue of jewellery, silver, ceramics, pictures, works of art, furniture, carpets and rugs including the Baird  Collection offered at auction by Phillips in the Atheneum, Bury St Edmunds on 24th and 25th of September 1997.  Coloured illustration of paintings as follows: -- Watercolour painting entitled Naval Vessels and Other Shipping off the Coastline, by William Joy (1803 -- 1867).  Oil painting on canvas entitled Bateaux a Golf Juan, by Marcel Dyf (1899 -- 1985).  Oil painting on canvas described as  Portrait of a Young Gentleman, wearing a black tunic with slashed sleeves over a white lace jabot, by Pieter Nason (Dutch 1612 -- 1688).  Oil painting on canvas entitled    Portrait of a Lady, and described as three-quarter length, seated wearing a blue dress edged with gold and crimson cloak, and holding a spray of flowers in her lap, with classical house and ornamental gardens beyond, Studio of Sir  Godfrey Kneller (1646 -- 1723).  Oil painting on canvas entitled A Portrait of a Lady attributed to George Beare (1744 -- 1749).  Oil painting on canvas entitled A Portrait of Alexander Wright, FSA, descibed as  bust  length, wearing a blue coat, cream stock and powdered wig, attributed to say Henry Raeburn (1756 -- 1823).  Oil painting on panel entitled Portrait of a Gentleman, described as  half length, having dark curling hair and wearing a black embroidered coat with lace collar, by Michiel van Miereveldt (Dutch 1567 -- 1641).  Oil painting on canvas entitled A Herd of White Cattle in a Park , attributed to Thomas Weaver (1774 -- 1843).  Oil painting on panel entitled Teasing the Sleeping Stable Lad by Jan David Col (Belgian 1822 -- 1900).
