Synopsis: Sheridan's famous play preceded by an introduction by Edmund Gosse  covering the Playwright's duels with Capt Matthews in 1772, and his writing of two plays , The  Slanderer  and  The Teazles , later amalgamated into School for Scandal which was produced for the first time in 1777, following Sheridan's acquisition of the Drury Lane Theatre.  Condition: some rubbing to cover, particularly to small section of upper right spine: endpapers darkened from age: overall clean and good. used books
