Synopsis: A detailed autobiography written during his seventies  by a notable Yorkshire Squire  born in 1787, whose revealing descriptions of personal matters-  set against the social background of the late 18th and  early 19 centuries - cover ancestry, inheritance, school days at  Eton, study at Oxford, the acquisition of various harriers and foxhounds, Lord Monson's hounds, hunting the Burton country, the Belvoir huntsmen,  Hunt, Hounds and Master ship of the Quorn country, various kennels, a first love affair, borrowing money, mastership of Sir Harry Goodricke, a pistol challenge, pheasant, partridge and grouse shooting, pigeon matches, escape from a bog, a gig accident, a murder trial and execution of the murderer, Lady Kennedy's humane device, shooting matches at Holkham, the Mildenhall partridge shooting match, hunting accidents, Queen Caroline's funeral, the Guard's Row, prizefighting , the 200 miles  ride at Newmarket, and a host of  other events and personages . An introduction by Sir Theodore Cook and a commentary by E D Cuming are included. Condition: slight discolouration and shelf- fading to spine and cover, slight age discolouration to frontispiece and title page, a little sporadic light foxing to preliminary pages,  overall clean, good and collectable used books
