His wife, the Lady Mayoress meticulously recorded the events of  daily ceremonial duties and engagements, including domestic and family details and her own personal, and usually amusing, viewpoints. Entertaining royalty, prominent citizens, politicians, and the host of people who visited the Mansion house; attending innumerable receptions and providing the Mayoral presence at the Coronation; launching and sustaining the Lord Mayor's Flood and Tempest relief fund in response to the North Sea Floods of January 31st; presenting prizes and attending a diversity of charity events; visiting Denmark and Sweden in the mayoral capacity and  many other details of official and private life are presented in this 1950s biography, supported by black-and-white photographs. Condition: dust jacket seriously worn with damaged and repaired edges: some discolouration to hardcover: endpapers and page edging foxed: contents very clean: overall acceptable used books
